Homeschool moms usually have a lot on their plates. It can easily feel even more overwhelming when you add business duties into that. However, there are ways to lessen the overwhelm and successfully manage this way of life. The key is to be organized.

Here are 5 organizing tips you can try.

1. Follow a schedule or a routine.

Your daily routine matters note

Create a plan for how you want your day to flow. This will vary from family to family because we all have different things going on in our lives. To do this, you can either set a schedule or a routine.

A schedule is generally a timed plan whereas a routine is more of a rhythm or a sequence of actions that do not necessarily follow a set time. Some families thrive on a specific schedule that divides time between homeschooling and business while others prefer the flow of a routine. Try both and see what works best for your family.

2. Create a system.

Systems are a set of procedures that you and your family can follow in order to make sure things are done. You can set up a system for many different things such as doing chores, cooking meals, cleaning up after lessons, and more. The important thing is for your family members to learn the steps so that you don't need to keep reminding them.

3. Use a planner.

Homeschool CEOs have a million things going on in their minds each day. It can be hard for our brain to keep up sometimes and we end up forgetting things. Prevent this by jotting stuff down. While you can write things down on any sheet of paper, it can easily get lost. Having everything in just one planner makes it easier to find what you need.

Planners come in either printed or digital formats and in many different sizes and layouts. Find one that has enough space to write what you need. A layout that segregates personal, homeschool, and business tasks could be a great option.

4. Have a place for everything.

Time is precious. You don’t want to waste it trying to find something you need. Having a place for everything in your home and office and being judicious about keeping things in their proper place will not only prevent you from losing them but also helps you find them easily.

For instance, have a place to separate the curriculum your kids are currently using from the ones they’re not. Store all your arts and crafts materials together. Organize all your paperwork into folders and label them.

5. Declutter regularly.

It’s not enough to keep things in their proper places. It’s important to declutter regularly especially if you have a smaller space. Decluttering not only frees your house or office from the unnecessary, it helps improve your mental health too by decreasing stress levels and boosting self-esteem.

Staying organized as a homeschool CEO helps ensure the success of both your business and homeschool. There are many ways to do it. The important thing is to stay true to yourself, take stock of what your family needs, and work around that.
